Asia's hottest rivalry could be held There have been reports that Korea and Japan will have an international friendly match in March.
Japan Sports Hochi and other media reported that the Japan Football Association had expressed its position that it was "worth considering" against Korea in a friendly match in March.
The JFA technical committee chairman said, "We haven't decided on a friendly game for March yet. We plan to play against a team that has a higher FIFA ranking than Japan, and has consistently participated in the World Cup finals."
In the FIFA rankings, Korea is ranked 25th, below Japan (20th), but has top European players such as Son Heung-min and Kim Min-jae. At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, they reached the round of 16 with Japan.
FIFA has designated March 20-28 as the first A-match week in 2023.
The Korea Football Association is known to be in contact with several South American teams, including Argentina, for an A match in March.
